Shea Yeleen is a sustainable beauty brand started by a first generation Ghanaian-American. In 2005, Rahama Wright launched Shea Yeleen after serving in the Peace Corps and learning the challenges traditional women shea producers face bringing their products to market. Nine years later the social enterprise has grown from an ecommerce business to selling in 40+ Whole Foods stores along the east coast. The Shea Yeleen model proves that local African products can be successfully branded for the US market while ensuring sustainability for the communities of origin.
We can't think of a better way to celebrate--Shea Yeleen's recent feature in the Washingtonian Magazine and the Young African Leaders Fellows--than by bringing together our supporters for a night of conversation, cocktails and fun!
